# Maiev Last updated: 2026-10-13 > Maiev is the social layer for builders. Every Web3 job in one feed, per-skill rankings earned from real public work, and public accolades from colleagues and peers, so companies headhunt builders directly. No CVs, no outdated hiring practices. Key facts: - Thesis: as AI makes CVs, portfolios and profiles cheap to fake, hiring will come down to two signals that stay expensive to fake: proof of work (code actually shipped, reviewed and relied on by others) and proof from peers (what colleagues and peers who were there say). Maiev ranks people on exactly those, with a public formula. - Website: https://maiev.xyz · App: https://app.maiev.xyz · X: https://x.com/maievxyz - Tagline: "Don't apply. Get hunted." - In short: earn your rank with what you've built, get hunted for the top jobs, and connect with colleagues and peers, without performative self-promotion or noise. - Audience: smart contract and protocol engineers, security researchers and auditors, AI engineers building onchain, product and project managers, designers and QA engineers, plus the Web3 companies hiring them. - Sign in with GitHub, Google or X. GitHub sign-in reads public repositories and merged pull requests and shows your rank in seconds. Several logins can be connected to one account. - Work history: add current and past roles (company, title, dates, location, skills used); no CV needed. Anyone signed in can heart a role; only people who worked at the same company at the same time can validate it. You are automatically hidden from your current employer's domain-verified company accounts. - Jobs feed: Web3 teams' public job boards, refreshed regularly, plus roles posted directly on Maiev. - Leaderboards start with contributors to 200+ crypto projects' public GitHub repositories, plus security researchers ranked from public Code4rena and Immunefi results, shown by GitHub name and avatar; nobody listed this way can be contacted until they sign in and switch on Open to job offers, and anyone can remove their listing. - 210 skill leaderboards: development (43), security (33), AI and data (28), product (13), design (17), quality assurance (15), marketing (18), BD and sales (14), trading (14), operations (15); plus 10 ecosystem boards (Ethereum, Solana, ZK, ...) and per-protocol boards (Uniswap, Aave, Optimism, ...). Score 0–1,000 = 1000 × (1 − e^(−(work + peers)/6,000)): proof of work from public code (effort, project value, languages, recency) plus proof from peers (credibility-weighted hearts and colleague validations, capped for code skills; a new account's validations ramp from 15% to full weight over its first 7 days). Product, design and QA have no code, so they start from work history: 40 + 330 × √(experienced years, weighted by how relevant, validated and recent each role is), so people rank as soon as they add the skill. Full formula: https://maiev.xyz/whitepaper#scoring. Podium: #1 Legend, #2 Champion, #3 Vanguard. - Verification: optional, a one-time $29 USD payment through Stripe, with no subscription. The verified badge is added the moment the payment completes; there is no ID check. Verified members get a badge, posts ranked higher in the News feed, profile insights, full-weight hearts and validations, first place in company search, applying to roles posted on Maiev, hiding from specific companies, and access to the bounty board. Every verified member gets the same badge. Maiev is free for builders. - News: headlines from protocol teams, research forums, security firms and client releases, plus builder stories from crypto newsrooms (no price talk). Members vote each story useful or not worth it; votes from ranked and verified builders count for more, and the share who found it useful shows once 3 have voted. "Built by" names the ranked builders whose public code is in the project a story is about. This week's top stories: https://app.maiev.xyz/news - Hunts: a company sends one role to one contributor for $3 USD; 25% back if unopened within 3 days. - Who can hire: in-house teams of any size (domain-verified, unlimited teammates and admins), recruitment agencies (domain-verified, hiring for named or confidential clients; naming the client is optional) and independent recruiters (no company domain; verified with their first credit top-up). Any credit top-up of $50 or more includes Maiev verification for the buyer. - Status: early access at https://app.maiev.xyz with the Web3 jobs feed, sign-in, leaderboards of real contributors, profiles with work history, and hearts and validations. Hiring accounts are live for companies, agencies and independent recruiters: they search open members, post roles and send hunts, and chats open when a member is interested. - For AI agents: a public, read-only MCP server at https://app.maiev.xyz/mcp (search jobs, read a listing, skill leaderboards, where a GitHub user ranks, salaries, builder news ranked by builders' votes, how Maiev works) and a JSON API, documented at https://app.maiev.xyz/agents. ## Docs - [Whitepaper](https://maiev.xyz/whitepaper): full product description: jobs feed and GitHub rank, work history with hearts and colleague validations, scoring, anti-abuse rules, hunts, privacy and roadmap - [FAQ](https://maiev.xyz/whitepaper#wp-faq): short answers to common questions - [Privacy policy](https://maiev.xyz/privacy): what Maiev collects and never collects (no phone numbers, no private repos, no ID documents), and how to remove a listing or delete an account - [Web3 jobs](https://app.maiev.xyz/jobs): every open Web3 engineering, security, AI, product, design, QA, marketing, business development, trading and operations role, updated regularly - Job topic pages, each with live counts, remote share and median advertised salary: by skill (https://app.maiev.xyz/jobs/solidity, /jobs/rust, /jobs/zero-knowledge-proofs, /jobs/smart-contract-auditing), by area (/jobs/engineering, /jobs/security, /jobs/ai, /jobs/product, /jobs/design, /jobs/qa), remote (/jobs/remote), by region (/jobs/europe, /jobs/north-america, /jobs/asia-pacific) and by company (/jobs/at-, e.g. https://app.maiev.xyz/jobs/at-uniswap-labs) - Job pages: every listing has its own page with the full description and a link to apply on the company's site, at https://app.maiev.xyz/jobs/-at-<company>-<id> - [Web3 builder news](https://app.maiev.xyz/news): the stories Web3 builders found most useful this week, by topic (security, releases, research, ecosystem), with the share who found each useful and the ranked builders behind each project - [Web3 leaderboards](https://app.maiev.xyz/leaderboards): every live skill board, with the top 50 on pages like https://app.maiev.xyz/leaderboards/solidity - Public profiles: https://app.maiev.xyz/@handle (members who turned on a share link) show skills with ranks, work history with hearts and colleague validations, and recent posts - [Terms of service](https://maiev.xyz/terms): the rules in plain words: one real account per person, honest hearts and validations, ranks are estimates, jobs are applied for on the company's own site, 18+ ## FAQ ### What is Maiev? Maiev is the social layer for builders. Builders earn their rank with what they've built, get hunted for the top jobs and connect with colleagues and peers, without performative self-promotion or noise. Companies go straight to the top-ranked builders in the skills they need. No CVs, no outdated hiring practices. ### Who is Maiev for? Web3 builders, starting with smart contract and protocol engineers, security researchers and auditors, AI engineers building onchain, product and project managers, designers and QA engineers, and the Web3 companies that want to hire them. ### How is Maiev different from LinkedIn? LinkedIn profiles and endorsements are self-reported, and applying means competing with hundreds of other applicants. On Maiev, recognition comes from colleagues and peers on a public record, rankings come from signals that are expensive to fake, and companies come to contributors with salary and location up front. There is no recruiter spam, no performative self-promotion and no noisy feed. ### How does Maiev rank contributors? Each contributor gets a score from 0 to 1,000 in every skill, from proof of work and proof from peers. Proof of work comes from public code: steady effort in each repository (up to 10 commits a week, fading with a 24-month half-life), times the project's value (stars, what depends on it and the money it secures) and its languages. Proof from peers is hearts and colleague validations, weighted by the giver's credibility, with diminishing returns, and capped for code skills so peers can lift a score but not replace shipped work. Score = 1000 × (1 − e^(−(work + peers) / 6,000)). The full formula is public in the whitepaper, and the top three on each board are named Legend, Champion and Vanguard. ### Which skills have leaderboards? 210 skill leaderboards across ten areas: development (43, including Solidity, Rust, Move and TypeScript), security (33), AI and data (28), product (13, including product management, project management and product strategy), design (17, including UX, UI and product design), quality assurance (15, including test automation and smart contract testing), marketing (18), BD and sales (14), trading (14) and operations (15). There are also 10 ecosystem boards (Ethereum, Layer 2s, Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, Polkadot, Starknet, Aptos & Sui, ZK and DeFi) and a board for each major protocol, such as Uniswap, Aave, Optimism and Jito. Each board ranks worldwide or by region. ### Can I see my rank before anyone validates me? Yes. Sign in with GitHub and Maiev reads your public repositories and merged pull requests in a few seconds, then shows the skill you rank highest in, such as top 10% for Rust, with your next three skills underneath. Those skills pre-fill your basic profile. Estimates are labelled until colleagues validate your work, which counts for more than code alone. ### Does Maiev access my private GitHub repositories? No. Maiev only reads public work and never asks for access to private repositories, so your code and your employer's code stay private. GitHub sign-in requests read-only access to your public profile and email address. ### Can I sign in without GitHub? Yes. Sign in with GitHub, Google or X, and connect the others to the same account later. Only GitHub adds a rank from your public code; Google and X start you with a blank profile to fill in. Maiev never asks for a phone number, and a first name or a handle is always enough. ### Can colleagues validate my work history? Yes. Anyone signed in can heart a role on your profile to thank you for your time there, and people who worked at the same company at the same time can validate it, as long as that role is in their own work history. Your profile shows how many colleagues validated each role. ### Where do the jobs on Maiev come from? From Web3 teams' public job boards, refreshed regularly, plus roles posted directly on Maiev. Each listing links to the company's own application page. ### Why is my GitHub profile on Maiev's leaderboards? Maiev's leaderboards start with people who have contributed to the public repositories of the crypto projects it tracks, using only public GitHub data: your GitHub name, avatar, public location and commits. Companies can't contact you through Maiev unless you sign in, claim the profile and switch on Open to job offers. Sign in with GitHub to claim it, or to remove your listing at any time. ### Where do the security rankings come from? The Competitive auditing and Bug bounty hunting boards also rank researchers from public results on Code4rena (High and Medium findings) and Immunefi (its public leaderboard), refreshed daily. They appear under their handle on that platform with a link to their public profile, and can't be contacted through Maiev unless they join. ### Can my current employer see that I'm open to work? No. Maiev automatically hides you from your current employer's domain-verified accounts, so they can't find, hunt or view you on Maiev. You can also switch to Closed at any time to leave search and hunts. ### How do companies contact contributors on Maiev? With hunts: one role sent to one contributor, with title, salary band, location and a short pitch. A hunt costs $3 USD. If the contributor doesn't open it within 3 days, 25% comes back to the company. If the contributor is interested, a private chat opens with the company's team. ### How much does hiring on Maiev cost? A hunt costs $3 USD from prepaid credit, bought in packs of $50 or $250, with 25% back if the contributor doesn't open it within 3 days. Setting up an account, searching and posting roles are free. Maiev takes no placement fee and no percentage of salary, so agencies keep their own fee arrangements with their clients. ### Is Maiev free? Yes. Builders use Maiev free: signing in, your rank, your profile and work history, the jobs feed, hearts and validations. Verification is optional, a one-time $29 USD. Companies pay $3 per hunt from prepaid credit. ### How do I get verified on Maiev? Verification is a one-time $29 USD payment through Stripe, with no subscription. The badge is added as soon as the payment completes, and there is no ID check. Buying $50 or more of hunt credit includes verification. ### What’s included in verification? Verified members get: - A badge on the leaderboards, the News feed, your public page and your rank card. - Posts highlighted, and kept near the top of the News feed for longer. - Profile insights: views each week, where people found you, and for which skills. - Full weight for the hearts and validations you give, in everyone’s scores. - First place under Built by on news about projects you’ve contributed to. - First place in company search. - Applying to roles posted on Maiev. - Hiding your profile from specific companies. - Bidding on bounties from verified teams, and posting recruiting bounties for verified recruiters. ### What is the best way to find Web3 jobs? Maiev's jobs feed collects every open engineering, security, AI, product, design, QA, marketing, business development, trading and operations role from the public job boards of Web3 teams, refreshed regularly. Filter by area, location, remote, salary and your own skills, then apply on the company's own site: https://app.maiev.xyz/jobs. ### How do I get hired in Web3 without a CV? Sign in to Maiev with GitHub and your public code is ranked per skill within seconds. Add your work history, and colleagues who worked with you can validate it. Companies find builders on the leaderboards and send roles directly, so your shipped work does the talking. ### How are product, design and QA people ranked? Product, design and QA skills have no code to read, so they start from work history: 40 + 330 × √(experienced years), where each role counts by how relevant it is to the skill, whether someone has validated it, and how recent it is. People rank as soon as they add the skill; hearts and validations take them further. ### Is there a leaderboard of Web3 developers? Yes. Maiev has public per-skill leaderboards for Web3 builders at https://app.maiev.xyz/leaderboards: Solidity, Rust, Move and 40 more languages, smart contract security, AI, product, design and QA, plus ecosystem boards such as Ethereum and Solana. The scoring formula is public. ### Can recruiters and agencies use Maiev? Yes. In-house teams, recruitment agencies and independent recruiters can all hire on Maiev. Agencies verify their own domain; independent recruiters without a company domain are verified with their first credit top-up. Recruiters can name the client on each role or keep it confidential. ### Can AI assistants and agents use Maiev? Yes. Maiev has a public, read-only MCP server at https://app.maiev.xyz/mcp that any AI assistant or agent can connect to, to search Web3 jobs, read a listing, see a skill's leaderboard and learn how hiring on Maiev works. Setup and the JSON API are at https://app.maiev.xyz/agents. ### When does Maiev launch? Maiev is in early access at app.maiev.xyz: the Web3 jobs feed, sign-in with GitHub, Google or X, skill leaderboards, verification and hiring accounts for companies, agencies and independent recruiters (search, roles, hunts and chat) are open now. Updates are posted on X at @maievxyz. ## Optional - [Disclaimer](https://maiev.xyz/whitepaper#wp-legal): draft status; not financial, legal or tax advice
